It all begins with an idea…
Earlier this year, my amazing friend Lillian told me about a little thing called Launch LYH. The program was something I’d heard about before, but never knew a whole lot about. After looking into the details, and seeing that it was the last year Lynchburg was offering it, I decided to apply. My idea? A sewing studio!
If you’re here, that likely means you’re a sewing or needle arts enthusiast, just like me. And you also know that both of these hobbies tend to take up a large amount of space and planning. Plenty of people don’t have a dedicated sewing space in their house and end up cutting their fabric on the floor or using up the dining room table for days at a time (guilty!). I thought, what if there was a place devoted to allowing creatives the space and equipment they need to make their next project a reality, while at the same time connecting with others.
A few months, and some very hard work later, Needle Ninja is becoming a reality!
For those don’t know anything about the Launch LYH program, it’s a state funded initiative to build up local downtown to bring more business to the area and revitalize it in one fell swoop. The program consisted of several weeks of evening seminars and essentially a crash course into opening and operating a small business. During the process, all participants created a business plan, and then pitched their unique idea to a panel of local judges. After that, 5 winners were announced. So amazing, right?
I’m so excited to be making my dream a reality - let’s start creating!
